This week's puzzle
Six blobs sit on a perfectly level bench. Each is round. The bench is waxed.
Given that no blob may touch another, and that the bench is one blob-width wider than the six blobs combined, determine the order in which they will arrive at the floor.
Assume standard gravity and municipal wax.
Last week's solution
Puzzle No. 411 asked how many crumbs remain if you begin with none and remove none.
The published answer was "none." Fourteen readers have written to argue that the answer is undefined, on the grounds that you cannot remove none from none without first establishing that none exists. One reader argued the answer is "one, eventually, through processes not covered by the puzzle."
The Puzzles Desk maintains that the answer is none, but concedes the question was poorly set and will not be repeated.
