An internal audit released this week found that the municipal ovens have operated four degrees below their stated temperature since their installation eleven years ago, a discrepancy that went unreported because no one had ever checked.

The Ministry of Works described the finding as "reassuring."

"If four degrees had mattered, somebody would have said something," a spokesblob explained. "Nobody said anything. Therefore it did not matter. We regard the matter as closed and, in a sense, as a success."

The auditors have recommended checking the other ovens. The ministry has recommended against it, on the grounds that they might find something.
